Ask the Bible

Scribe · study assistant

Scribe answers from Scripture and public-domain Christian sources. It is a study aid, not a pastor or a church.

Three ways in, depending on where you are

  1. 01

Read it for the first time without getting lost

What the Bible is, where to open it, and what to expect in the first two weeks. Then a fourteen-day plan of short readings.

  2. 02

Open a guide to the book you are reading

Who wrote it, why, how it is put together, the passages that carry it, and how it points to Christ. Twelve full guides and a one-line summary of all sixty-six books.

  3. 03

Find what Scripture actually says about it

Anxiety, forgiveness, money, marriage, suffering, heaven, prayer, work, anger, grief. What the Old Testament shows, what Jesus taught, what the apostles wrote, and what the Bible does not say.

Reading plans

Plans with real chapter counts

Each plan lists the actual readings, day by day, and what to do when you fall behind.

About the plans

How to use this site

Read the passage first, then read about it

1

Open the Bible before you open the guide

Every article assumes you have the passage in front of you. Quotations here come from the Berean Standard Bible and the King James Version, both in the public domain, and every quotation is checked word for word against the text.

2

Use the guides to see the shape of a book

A book guide will not replace reading the book, but it will tell you who is speaking, why, and what to watch for, so that the hard chapters make sense.

3

Ask Scribe when you are stuck

Scribe answers from Scripture and public-domain Christian sources. It is a study aid, not a pastor or a church. Ask it about a verse, a word, or a book, and then take what you find to prayer, to Scripture itself, and to people in a local church.
